Landowners Immediate Attention Please!

An important announcement was made by Zak Benge from the Houston County Sheriff's Department which applies to every landowner in Ranches at Buckhorn Creek. Here is what he posted on June 6 on the Houston County Sheriff's Department Facebook page.

Do not delay in reading this and acting because tomorrow is the deadline and Houston County needs ALL our voices!

"If you live in Houston County and drink an ounce of water here, the issue concerning the drilling and taking upwards of 10 billion gallons of our water a year from us is vitally important for you. Imagine Houston County Lake being drawn down to empty 2.5 times a year. That’s about the equivalent amount of water that will be taken and sold somewhere else. This will affect your local water supplies that are provided by your municipalities, anyone with a well for their home or livestock and anyone with spring fed creeks or ponds. It WILL affect you and your children in the future. I am asking all who live in Houston County to file this attached letter of contest to the permits being asked for in the Neches and Trinity Valleys Groundwater Conservation District. I also ask that you call their office and make your voice heard. Their number is (903) 541-4845. You must send the paperwork as the phone call alone is not enough. Houston County must put enough pressure with public outcry to buy us time to seek any legal remedy to stop this taking of OUR water and the lifeblood of our farming, ranching and residential communities.
